My bathroom sink would not turn off all the way. There was a steady drip drip drip turning into a dribble. Only the hot water tap which gave me further uneasy feelings. A trip to Menards with a photo and measurements revealed that I needed to replaced the 1/4" value. This involved crawling under the stairs to shut off the water first. Under the stairs I discovered a heavy duty pair of tongue and groove adjustable pliers from the last time I needed to preform this task. They were perfect for replacing the value. Yay. The first time with the new value and water turned back on, there were little sprays of water coming out, so I needed to reinstall the value and tighten all the screws again. Not sure if it was right and afraid I was in plumber territory, I tried once more, turned the water on, and no water spraying! What a relief!! The unexpected result of this was that although I was exhausted, I felt empowered because of this accomplishment! That short lived burst of invincibility can see you through some things. There is something about a rainy day in summer. My second favorite kind of rainy days, my very favorite being Autumn rainy days, of course. It's a cool grey rainy day and I LOVE it. I feel so energized by this kind of day. I am reminded of the fairies in Arthur Conan Doyle's 'The Coming of the Fairies' from 1922, with it's quaint photos of fairies. (I. bought my copy at the Theosophical Society's bookstore, about 45 years ago.. Quest Books was the place to go if you believed in fairies, along with other metaphysical books and discoveries. I believe I also bought my 'A Course In Miracles' books there too, when I was 19.. In those days Quest Books smelled of Sandalwood incense, just the right kind of smell for the bookstore. We look at the quaint fairy pictures now and see how dated they are, but they still have charm. Rainy days and fairies and the scent of sandalwood.. https://sevensundays.com/ - Seven Sundays Cereal is a new-ish discovery for me - I loved the discovery of this delicious sunflower based cereal. Several of their products are included in the DetoxProject: detoxproject.org/certification/glyphosate-residue-free/certified-products/ but a couple of the cereals have been found to contain glyphosate. (Probably due to drift, since glyphosate has been given the go ahead to be sprayed everywhere by our unhealthy president, and sickly secretary of health & human services.. One online influencer took to social media and slammed Seven Sundays Cereal, despite the company showing how it has been trying to make good. All of a sudden hundreds of people suddenly are screaming glyphosate! glyphosate! this company lied to us! Here's what I'm learning from this: how ignorant people will just accept someone online trashing a decent company. Ignorant people are not bothering to do their own research, or look up information and FACTS. Second case of people behaving badly, new to me: we've found a new park to walk at, near to home, the dogs loves it. Only problem the people who use the park are pigs. They leave garbage everywhere, food garbage, clothing, toys, plastic.. (The park is also being sprayed with glyphosate, so I've started bringing along a jug of water to wash my dog's paws after we walk...) I wonder how many fo the "hysterical cereal screamers also use glyphosate on their own lawns, or do their neighbors? But no, it's too easy to pick on a small company that does so much good... My learning: that there are ignorant people not willing to RESEARCH and READ thoroughyl and get information and facts. And stop being so god damned piggy in a park everyone should be able to enjoy. I guess I learned that people are not as smart as I though. People are not as respectful as I thought. Maybe as I'd hoped they were... The lessons continue, even at my age.
