I bet you're stronger than you realize. Or maybe you already know it. How often do you surprise yourself by doing something you were so sure you wouldn't get through? Or couldn't get through? Every day we encounter moments that can become amazing realizations for who we are and what we want to do here. We might get sidetracked (we often do) but resist the urge to get lost in transitory things that will not matter in the very least in a month's time. Go for your strength, look, then look again. Wait for a moment, listen, find your strength again. It's there and ready for you. Writing Prompt: Surprise yourself today by discovering a previously hidden asset. Is it one to develop, keep an eye on, refine? Writing prompt: Let go of something today. Will you bring it back in some form? Enjoy a pause of emptiness.. #Strong #strength #writingprompt #wordprompts #DevelopingStrength #BecomingStronger

Lots of noise outside as a neighbor has their driveway torn out an replaced. Bits of the conversations of the workmen drift into my house. The morning has it's usual activities: animal food prepared, animals fed , a nice long walk in the park with the pup, trying out a new recipe - for home made vegan hot dogs, then there's the writing and the connecting with others, spiritual practices and exercise. Reliability in self, in our role in the universe. Consciously not picking up my phone to check the latest social media alerts. Long term looking as what will still be here and what will no longer matter. Choose wisely and begin. Writing prompt: Where do others see you as reliable? Writing prompt: where do you imagine are you least reliable? Has this changed and will it change? Ever changing perhaps? Can you add some magic? #Reliability #Wordprompt #writing #writingprompt #nonfictionwriter #fictionwriter #makemagic #everydaymagic #everydaymoments
Energy becomes matter. It can be a most humbling experience, an awe inspiring and, humbling experience when you give pause, and allow your next great thing to become. What is that like? We are here to create. You feel modest thinking about the expansive processes and how it all comes together in a perfect dance of the universe. There is a cycle: action, pause, action, pause, allowing, results, refining, then again.. Writing prompt: You are creating all the time - can you come up with a plan, and action steps you will take for your "next big creation?" Writing prompt: From your future self: how/when/wht came about, and how did it surprise you? #wordprompt #writingprompt #modesty #cycles #movementinnature #naturalworld #cyclical #create
Every so ofter I pick up my one of my two well worn copies of Carol Bly's 'The Passionate, Accurate Story' and dip into Ms. Bly's writing. I am always glad I did. Today's example, in the chapter titled "Small Cures," in the Plurals and Generics subsection, Ms. Bly wrote: "...Just now a red-trunked elephant comes smashing the stone wall between our back garden and the neighbor's. First its trunk sends rock and mortar flying. Soon the entire elephant is in our back garden, its wrinkled ankles looking weary. Its eyes look as if it had spent all day estimating the thicknesses of things, to see what could be gone through and what couldn't." Isn't that a wonderful passage? Although this example is to illustrate how we must be specific for our readers, I love that it shows Ms. Bly's subtle sense of humor. I love how Ms. Bly reminds me to write cleanly, and allow humor to come through if that is what the passage and place in the story call for. Thank you, Carol Bly. Let's think about "sticktoittiveness" which is a great way to think about endurance.. Does endurance mean you must suffer, as you strive toward a goal? It seems as though things work for you, or they don't, and making the decision to continue with something that's not working, withdrawing your energy, can bring a feeling, a rush of being energized because of that decision. You know it was the right decision. And knowing that you can always choose again. That's important. Choose again when needed. Enduring as a human being, learning and growing every day. Writing prompt: What are some ways you convince, persuade, "unprocrastinate" yourself? Without being manipulating? Writing prompt: Observe your routines and patterns from a week in review perspective. Thoughts and ideas about when endurance serves you? Writing prompt picture: Bee Balm offers pollinators nourishment. What role does nourishment play in your 'endurance' activities? #Wordprompt #writingprompth #endurance #Sticktuitiveness, #routines #patterns #goals #energy #BeeBalm #Pollinate #Menarda
Admiring of the commitment of a snapping turtle to dare to cross busy roads, because she knows where to lay her eggs.. Are you committed to doing a good job today? Are you committed to understanding what is needed and when? Writing Prompt: List your commitments. Think beyond your ordinary world. Writing prompt: What commitments do others expect of you? Do those need to change? (I helped to get her nearer the pond, off the busy road) She breached the plastic container I carry in my car at all times for animal rescues. She's so strong, and I wish her a long life! *Our favorite creativity queen Katharyne Shelton has a new program! When I first discovered shadows in photoshop, I had a lot of fun playing with depth, the more shadow, the better. Gradually I learned that it was often better to give a piece of art what I call "a lift" which meant just a light touch of shadow. It's wonderful to observe our progress, which can be astonishing at times. How far you've come, how much you've grown. What were your thoughts last year at this time? What has changed? What is pretty much the same? Does THAT need updating? Writing prompt: note achievements you're especially proud of. Writing prompt: what can you start today that you'll be proud of in a week, month, year? Tell a tale from a year in your future. #Writingprompt #Achievement #innerself #outerself #Selftalk #Proud #stepbystep #tinymovement #Helpers #furryfriends #mirrors
Stability is having a supported foundation. It's not a word widely used, yet there it is, alongside strength, a silent partner, perhaps. A necessary component. When we begin a new project, as it builds, we observe, and seek out a strong foundation. Otherwise we know our project won't be stable. (A three legged stool compared to a chair with four legs) It helps to know we have time to build again if our foundation never sets up or doesn't arrive as expected. You have time to complete your projects. You have time to create stability. Writing Prompt: Observe different layers of stability beyond what you normally think of. Writing prompt: How does adding stability as an essence make a difference? What does building and rebuilding mean for your project? #Wordprompt #writing #Stability #Strength #form #Projects
Happy 4th! Good food, good weather(usually), good memories. I was fortunate to enjoy many a July 4th holiday with my grandparents; starting the day with the parade, then carnival rides after lunch, night time fireworks and then sparklers in their yard. I fell asleep to 'Yankee Doodle Dandy' while laying on the Serta Sofa Bed... (See link below for Jimmy Cagney's wonderful dance scene in 'Yankee Doodle Dandy.' Here are my parents, well into their 90s, still enjoying July 4th. Writing Prompt: choose a color and freewrite. See what comes up for you. Reflect on how holidays bring rhythm into our lives. Remember creating your own celebrations. #Writingprompt #Color #FreeWriting #TimedWriting #Holidays #Tradition #Lynchpins #RedWhiteBlue
#Rainbow #SightsAndSounds #Story #Vignette #Connections #Family Uninstalled my YouTube app from my phone last night. I realized that in a roundabout way, it was making me sick. It had become more than a habit to seek out videos to have on (an entertainment?) while I prepared turtle food, or dog food, or while doing dishes. But, the political shows that I once enjoyed have become so stressful that I realize they are taking a toll on my health. So, uninstalling for now. Also, being mindful about where I direct my attention. If I am to honor my earthy time, there are better ways to spend it and it is my job to find those ways, in mindfulness, not distractions or temporary "entertainments." Writing prompt: a poem - right here, right now. Stay in the present moment. Writing prompt: imagine you are caught in the rain. How do you react? Engage all your senses until you come to a realization about yourself and rain and beingness. #Rain #WritingPrompt #FredericChurch #RainyWeather #RainySeason #HudsonRiverSchool #LandscapePainting #RainPoem #JulyWritingPrompts
