Do you find it easier to act with boldness on behalf of someone else? How often is it that we can act on behalf of another more easily than taking action for ourselves? This other person perspective can be hugely helpful when making decisions. Writing prompt: When has someone acted with boldness and that always stands out in your memory? Writing prompt: When have you acted with boldness that then inspired others to take action? Today I am grateful for: perfect timing. Even when it doesn't seem like it is. #writingprompt #wordprompt #pictureprompt #bebold #courage #help #thoughts #help

The more I have an understanding of how Inkscape works, the more it leads to understanding other things. It's take me several months to be able to use Inkscape to create documents for crafts in the library. Like Anthony Robbins once said, (paraphrased) "To understand something, learn about something else - anything else." I don't remember his exact words, but I do remember that his example included learning to be a helicopter pilot. The best recent example for Inkscape is that is has helped me with understanding how our minds work. It almost seems as if Inkscape was modeled after the human brain, but I think you could say that about many computer programs. I am thinking about Inkscape nodes and paths.. Writing prompt: Can you find connections between two seemingly unrelated subjects? Writing prompt: What can you learn about the subjects you chose? Today I am grateful for: one piece of advice given in one of my meditations: Withdraw your attention from the things that you don't want. Don't give them energy. #Writingprompt #wordprompt #understanding #inkscape #brain #energy #meditation #focus #withdrawenergy #inkscape #brain
We tend to think that self-actualization is a newer striving but perhaps it's always been a part of being human, at least when we think of Maslow's pyramid of needs. But maybe he got it upside down? Self-actualization strivings can support the other needs, and can offer solutions for the missing or displaced needs. Example: creativity and problem solving. Writing prompt: Is self-actualization a more recent striving? Writing prompt: Write about a character years ago, perhaps centuries ago, who yearned for self-actualization. Today I am grateful for my little neighborhood healthy pet food store: Peppo's Pets. from wikimedia, by Factoryjoe #writingprompt #wordprompt #needs #maslow #selfactualization #esteem #love #safety #Peppospets #healthypetfood #neighborhood
"Twenty-five years' experience among little children has taught me that in spiritual and moral perceptiveness, and intuitive knowledge of character, they are far nearer to the angels than we are." Amelia E. Barr from 'Little Children' https://www.online-literature.com/amelia-barr/maids-wives-bachelors/20/ I love it when a new discovery pops up when you didn't expect it. And I love a good dictionary! Writing prompt: What do you think Ms. Barr meant by that? Writing prompt: Do you agree, and why? Would you consider perceptiveness one of your positive traits? Today I am grateful for loved ones safe from the hurricane. Prayers to those in its path. #writingprompt #wordprompt #wayofseeing #AmeliaEBarr #LittleChildrenessay #maidswivesbachelors #projectgutenberg #Hoorayfordictionaries
Let's revisit Win Wenger, and here's a great insight, or "Winsight." called: Ask Better Questions for More Than Just Better Answers. Do you feel your knowledge is something that is increasing, and does that make you feel good? https://winwenger.com/essays/winsights/part-63/ Writing prompt: How might you rephrase your questions in conversation today? Writing prompt: Did you receive better answers? Did you knowledge improve because you did this? Today I am grateful for my iMac, my Inkscape, my Photoshop Elements and my Dropbox programs through which I can create worlds. #Writingprompt #wordprompt #pictureprompt #wiseoldowl #knowledge #BettyEdwards #Socraticmethod #questionsandanswers
Dignity. Seriousness. A moral virtue. How does having gravitas benefit certain situations? Do you think displaying gravitas might command more respect in those circumstances? I hadn't ever given it much thought before now. I'm not sure I've ever used gravitas in a sentence before now. Writing prompt: Do you see something in your world that embodies gravitas? Writing prompt: Do you see something in your world that could use more gravitas? Today I am grateful for: I acknowledge the abundance in my world Aeneas, depicted here with Venus, was considered the embodiment of gravitas, pietas, dignitas, and virtus #writingprompt #wordprompt #pictureprompt #story #gravitas #dignity #nobility #honor #moral #virtue #abundance
One of my statements around my perfect car is: "I want a car that is dependable, reliable and safe, only needs routine repairs and maintenance, and gets great gas mileage. I don't say it has to be brand new, and I haven't yet specified a particular make or model. I might add those. But I felt I should go for what I felt were most important. My first car was a Chevy Nova, a salmon pink color that my father and I went to look at from a newspaper advertisement. The car started right up even though it had been surrounded by snow for some days. It had a built in 8-track tape player that I got a lot of use out of. Absolutely dependable. Writing prompt: Write about something that gave you the gift of dependability. Writing prompt: Write about how you give the gift of dependability to others. Today I am grateful for Autumn weather! #wordprompt #writingprompt #story #dependability #reliability #Chevynova #8-track #manifest #affirmation #creating
Where does the urge to belong show up in your life? We understand how wanting to belong can lead to cults, and misplaced worshipping of those who don't deserve our praise. Private club memberships that begin to seem silly once we've really had a good look at them. What about family and genealogy, our DNA, giving us good things in belonging, things we are proud of? Writing prompt: What's the best thing you've done acting from the sense of belonging? Writing prompt: What's the second best thing you've done acting from that sense of belonging? Today I am grateful for the magical first day of Autumn I enjoyed yesterday. (See video) Today I am grateful for completing the tasks I needed to complete today. #writingprompt #wordprompt #pictureprompt #findingmore #discover #belong #longing #family #ancestry #BarredOwl #Autumn #Autumnsounds
Truth: originally from Trewth, meaning constancy, twelve century. What is truth? Do we always know when we are being truthful to ourselves, do we always know when we are not telling the truth to ourselves? When are you most trusting of yourself and the decisions you make? Writing prompt: If everything in your world fell away and only truth remained, what would be left? Writing prompt: Can that be refined? Today I am grateful for RAIN. Rain. Finally. #writingprompt #wordprompt #pictureprompt #joy #actual #perception #mytruth #beingtruetoyourself #trust #rain #trustnature
I experienced some 'pumpkin insecurity' at the local Harvest Fest this morning. And although it is not one of my proud moments, it was definitely a teaching moment for me. (And I've been calling some of my teaching moments "mistakes" lately, to ease off of the burden of the pain of being imperfect.) There were huge cardboard loads of pumpkins as I walked into the fest. There were tables set up to paint the pumpkins. I asked if I could just take a pumpkin and go, and I was told I should do the craft if I wanted a pumpkin. So I hastily took some purple paint and gave my chosen one two triangle eyes and a lopsided mouth and with more purple paint, fangs. I set down my paint brush and left the scene. It wasn't until I drove home that i realized I hadn't even bothered to clean the paint brush for the next person. I had been piggy and thoughtless. Why? Because I wanted the damn pumpkin. Writing prompt: Write about one of your proudest moments and what you learned from it. Writing prompt: Write about one of your not so proud moments, one of your "mistakes" and how it has helped you become a better person. Today I am grateful for: my pumpkin insecurity and what it taught me about myself #writingprompt #wordprompt #security #pumpkin #learning #mistakes #moments #life #pictureprompt
