Something quite remarkable happened to me because I've had to rest my legs for the past two months, due to a muscle injury. On my evening walk in the park with my dog, I suddenly (yes, suddenly) felt my leg straighten and I felt my longstanding (no pun intended) limp lessen significantly. I've had a limp on my right side for about a decade and now, quite unexpectedly, it feels like it's going away. I had no idea that resting both legs for two months would give my other leg the time and patience on my part to allow it to properly heal. Unexpected and delightful! Writing prompt: Write about something that was much better because you waited before taking action. Writing prompt: Do you think we go through periods where we feel more impatient about things? Gratitude: This morning I am grateful that I get to spend time doing a crossword puzzle with my son. #wordprompt #writingprompt #patience #worththewait #story #try #pause #placeholder #recovery #healing #crosswordpuzzle

Kindness can show us how little it takes to make a change in someone's life. One small act can change things, lest we doubt the impact we can have. Sometimes it feels as though we are powerless. Our thoughts matter. Our actions matter. Our words matter. Writing prompt: How often are you kind to yourself? Does that need some work? Writing prompt: the very next thing you do, do in kindness. How does that feel? Today I am grateful for: I am grateful for the connections that are all around me. I am grateful for the reminder of how important kindness is. #writingprompt #wordprompt #pictureprompt #kindness #sharing #caring #smallacts #thingsthatmatter #thepowerofoneperson #gratitude #thankful #autumnleaves
I am very grateful today for the Harvest Moon which will peak tonight! Only a few days left of summer 2024. How has this summer been for you? I will remember the good and the bad, and be grateful for them both. The "bad" makes the "good" shine even brighter. I am grateful for the best things I've learned this summer. Are you dedicated to examining your life and making adjustments and improvements regularly so that things fit together better, so that things work more effectively, more efficiently? Have you thought about your life as having gone through cycles? Seven year or ten year cycles perhaps. What's wroking for you these days? I recently read that everyone goes through a "life review" at age 70. It's interesting that that is where seven and ten intersect. Writing prompt: Can you dedicate yourself to cultivating a new good habit for five minutes a day? What happened after one week? Writing prompt: Will you continue? #writingprompt #wordprompt #dedication #dedicated #lifecycle #review #whateverworks #pictureprompt #Palak #dronemovie #devotion Screenshot from Palak's Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@eyecon82 Stowe Vermont video I love his beautiful videos. Palak left this world in Nov 2016 Something I wrote about a few days ago was the 'Melville Pattern,' https://www.literaryfolliesgildedstrumpet.com/literaryfollies-blog/passion Silvia Hartmann has made the observation that when you examine something very closely, using all of your senses, you can cultivate and appreciate and a love for that object. We can add that something can become beautiful as you spend more time with it also. This can have long reaching implications in your life. Writing prompt: Find beauty where you haven't found it before. An unexpected beauty. Writing prompt: Combine an observation of beauty with something else. How does this expand you concept of beauty? Or did nothing change? #writingprompt #wordprompt #beauty #unexpectedbeauty #observation #closeup #appreciate
I keep coming back to this image of animals trusting us with their whole beings, even as they endure terrible existences because of us. I am thinking of animals raised for food, but treated as though they are not sentient beings that have feelings and feel pain, but instead are treated as though they simply exist to be an item on our plates. I believe you eat their pain and suffering, as well as the chemicals their bodies create as they live dismal lives. This is one of the biggest betrayals of trust in our lives today. It's interesting how we use ratings for things. It is useful for a purchase and for things we know little about, for more information. We shouldn't disregard the importance of instinct, the gut feelings that guide us too. We have the outer, and then our inner data. Finding satisfaction and using it as a springing off point for higher and greater peaks today might be a fun experiment. I like being a satisfied customer, satisfied with a purchase or interaction, but there is something beyond that. Something a little more unknown, behind, beneath, beyond. Much to be discovered there. Writing prompt: Can more observation and noticing increase your appreciation and your satisfaction of things in your daily life? Writing prompt: Any interesting results to record from trying 'The Melville Pattern?' https://winwenger.com/resources/cps-techniques/the-melville-pattern/ #writingprompt #wordprompt #satisfaction #tomsawyer #huckleberryfinn #happinessscale #improvements #discover #MelvillePattern #shades #findyourway #feelings #data
My passions are easy to name: art, writing, nature, animals. There are probably scads more attached to those main ones. Here's an interesting exercise called The Melville Pattern which may help you spot more hidden passions: https://winwenger.com/resources/cps-techniques/the-melville-pattern/ Step 1: Describe any object in excruciating detail — and I mean in excruciating detail. Step 2: Now, begin to muse what the object and all the object’s details remind you of. Step 3: Begin to describe in detail what the object (and all its detailed aspects) is not and does not remind you of. Why do this exercise? Because the things you closely examine, you come to appreciate more, discover more about and feel more passion for. Writing prompt: What do you feel most passionate about right now? Does thinking about it give you a little lift? Can you energize yourself this way more often? Writing prompt: What old passions are you ready to release, to let go of? Or will you keep all your passions, just in case? #writingprompt #wordprompt #passion #energy #story #art #compassion #BallerinaMondays #Melvillepattern #winwenger #silviahartmann
