Today's Halloween fun film is 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' created by Richard O'Brien. He wrote 'The Rocky Horror Show' in the early 1970s, mostly for himself. The potential of the show was seen very early on. When I saw the movie it was only a few years later, at a midnight showing in a college town. We watched the movie, then, like many others, returned the second night armed with squirt guns, newspapers, toilet paper, a lighter, and other paraphernalia to participate. How is efficiency a power word? The answers are once again, in nature. Nature has efficiency instilled within it, helping hold structures together. My deep love for the natural world began when my grandparents would take us for long walks in the woods. My love for animals grew over time, I went from the "normal" diet to becoming vegetarian at age 19. Even though we didn't have all the information we do today about how animals are treated, I knew their lives were not respected and were probably very cruel. Love for animals drove me to try and do as little harm as possible to them. I could go on with the various species whose lives I've encountered... How might you improve that? Today's Halloween fun is Screaming Yellow Theater, a Friday night TV series that ran from 1970 to 1973. At first Jerry G. Bishop did voice over intros to movies only, but then the Svengoolie character made his debut. A ghoul hippie who talked like Bela Lugosi, Svengoolie hosted a whopping 285 episodes. Screaming Yellow Theater featured schlocky and usually low budget horror films with Svengoolie segments before and after commercial breaks. It aired on Friday nights at 10:30pm in Chicagoland. Often guest stars would autograph Sven's coffin before opening it and releasing Sven. There were running gags and Sven's main sidekicks were Zelda the skeleton head and Durwood the ventriloquists' dummy. Today I am grateful for: fond memories from my past. It's definitely easier I wrote that, but then I was interrupted or distracted by something. I wonder what I thought was 'definitely easier' in the context of 'Serenity..' It's Saturday morning and the day has many opportunities that I hope I will not squander. There are always the chores, and then the connections, choices, ideas, thoughts, questions and plans. Between all these moments, I can connect with serenity. The pause for a before any activity so that I can make that thoughtful connection before taking action.
