Stuffing from scratch begins with sourdough bread. This year I made my own, from my own sourdough starter. I missed the sourdough starter rage that happened during covid, but I'm glad to be introduced to it now. There are so many recipes and instructions, how do you know which one is the best? I usually take a consensus and look for what is most suggested. Nothing is set in stone and everything is fixable or redoable, and you get to eat the mistakes no matter what. Writing prompt: think about some trial and error decisions you made and write about what you learned in the process. Writing prompt: Thankful list for today? Today I am grateful for my grandparents and the wonderful holidays we shared. Today I can give from my heart the gift of sharing that love with others. #writingprompt #wordprompt #gathering #baking #sourdough #bread #feast #warmth #thankful
Have you been cooking/baking/planning for the holiday? Here's one of Jake Westbrook's music compilations from YouTube. I really love the illustrations - they evoke feelings of nostalgia, don't they? Time to remember the best times, the sharing and reminiscing.. And bring it into the present, into today. Writing prompt: favorite recipe you can write out and give to a friend Writing prompt: What makes this Thanksgiving a treasure for you and your loved ones? Today I am grateful for peaceful times. Today I can give from my heart a blessing and/or a prayer.

These are all expressions I use about myself when I'm experiencing "a downer." In a tear is like tearing up paper, etc., not tear as in eyes tearing. One of my favorite stratagems is to do something I enjoy. Yesterday (Monday, Nov 25) the planets were haywire and a lot of people were feeling out of sorts. I did some baking, and while I baked, I put on a few favorite Christmas shows. Not the ordinary ones, but Blackadder Christmas, and also The Office (UK version with Ricky Gervias) Christmas Special. I plan on watching Ricky Gervais's Extras Christmas Special this week too. Ricky Gervais knows how to do funny, cringingly awkward and heartwarming shows. Perfect for this season. As of right now, all are available on Prime, or with BritBox. Writing prompt: This week I am taking care of myself by: Writing prompt: This week I am reaching out to loved ones and telling and/or showing them I love them Today I can give from my heart the gift of a laugh Today I am grateful for cozy warmth and a new day #Writingprompt #wordprompt #baking #ChristmasSpecial #joy #family #friends #sharing #laughter
I am in the 'sharps' camp, versus the 'sharks' camp. Another fun movie from the 1940s, and even in black and white, Edith Head's costumes are peak glamour. Did you know that in 'The Incredibles' the character Edna Mode is based on Edith Head? Writing prompt: Write about a word that you use "incorrectly" but you enjoy using it anyway. Perhaps your definition more fitting? Writing prompt: Write about a word or saying that you invented yourself. Or invent a new one. Today I am grateful for Sundays in November Today I can give from my heart: the gift of protection Today's classic film fun is 'The Lady Eve' and, you might have guessed - written and directed by Preston Sturges, from 1941. The cast features the Sturges gang plus Barbara Stanwyck and Henry Fonda. Lovely Barbara and her father are card sharps, or do you say card sharks? #writingprompt #wordprompt #PrestonSturges #BarbaraStanwyck #EdithHead #1941 #cardshark #cardsharp #poker #TheLadyEve #TheIncredibles
The rule of three says that it's not necessarily the first connection that will make a difference for you - and not even the next, but the next connection after that one that will impact you. While I have found great connections "after the after the.." I've also found great connections after connecting with people. So I take issue with that "rule." Also, how many "rules" are we taught that turn out to be false, harmful, or just plain dumb? All those suggestions and comments from people, the media, teachers, etc. that turned out to be untrue, hurtful and/or harmful and might have been said to influence or persuade you against your best interests. We do need to learn to use our intuition more effectively. I used to love reading tarot cards. I am still interested by the political tarot readers on YouTube (they've kept me sane since Nov 6th) but I know that I will never be comfortable reading tarot for myself because I take suggestions to heart. Writing prompt: Observe "rules" that you follow that may not be in your best interest, or even downright false. Writing prompt: How about some new "rules" that will support you? Today I am grateful for understanding that there is a "big picture" Today I can give from my heart the knowing and trusting that there is a "big picture" for others #writingprompt #wordprompt #rules #whateverworks #ruleofthree #sayswho #decisions
It feels like we are waiting for something to happen.. All this the talk of Pluto and Mercury retrograde and how they can be upsetting and "topsy-turvying" all our plans plays into this too. Also the political three ring circus (six rings, twelve rings?) that follows DJT around like (insert metaphor here) Another chance for some creative writing. Writing prompt: How do you take action while you wait for an outcome? Writing prompt: What seeds are you planting today that will sprout tomorrow/next week/month/the next three months? Today I am grateful for empowerment. Today I can give from my heart: honoring this moment #Writingprompt #pictureprompt #acorns #oaktree #waiting #gestation #pluto #mercury #retrograde
I'm not sure if it's synchronicity, exactly, but have you ever had one of those experiences where you acted, on a whim, and then that turned out to be a huge great thing? A chance purchase of a book, perhaps, or a conversation with a friend? I bought a book that turned out to be the perfect thing for me right now. One thing mentioned in the book is the fact that once we get something, we immediately want something else. And that that is human nature and nothing we need to regret or feel bad about. Until we learn this, we do feel bad about it, as if we should get that one thing and then be happy for weeks because we have it. It's not as though we are being reckless, we can give ourselves credit for our wisdom. Writing prompt: Write about something that gives you a sigh of relief that you found it, maybe "just in time." Writing prompt: How often do you act "on a whim?" Has it lead to wonderful circumstances? Today I can give from my heart: resources to help if asked Today I am grateful for my phone and connecting to others #writingprompt #synchronicity #intuition #November #JustInTime #Helpers
Enthusiasm. Passion. Zest. Energy. What if one of more of these was looking for you, to be it's host, or carrier, for something new to emerge? What if the energy of passion needed the particular ingredient that you could supply? This might be an interesting way to look at things.. Writing prompt: Write about a project that you are excited about. What aspects of it are you planning? Writing prompt: How do your emotions play a part in your enthusiasm? Have you had a good laugh today? Today I am grateful for angel messages (222, 444, etc) Today I can give from my heart enthusiasm and encouragement This week's film fun is Preston Sturge's most known work: 'The Miracle Of Morgan's Creek' which was filmed in late 1942- 1943, released in 1944. They really had to skate around the Hayes office with this one: after a night of entertaining the troops, and a little too much to drink, Trudy discovers that she's in a family way and can't remember the name of her husband, who has gone off to war. Plenty of Sturges humor and even two songs with Sturges lyrics. William Demarest and Diana Lynn who make up the rest of Trudy's family are a treat to watch. Mayor McGinty and 'The Boss' make cameo appearances in the film too! (Mayor McGinty and 'The Boss' are from the Sturges classic 'The Great McGinty.'
Yesterday afternoon was the last day of our library program 'craft together,' where for two weeks in November, a craft is offered every day from 2pm to 4pm and all are welcome. Last year I attended all 10 sessions, this year I only attended five. I found friends to craft with and we sat together and chatted and laughed, and created journals and ornaments and we painted and were creative. Out glue gun skills have no doubt improved! Writing prompt: Where do you get your vitality from? Writing prompt: Have you noticed how, or if, the planets affect your levels of energy? Do you think you might take action if you notice this? Today I am grateful for walks in the park with my pup. Today I can give from my heart a 'thank you, gratitude and appreciation. #wordprompt #writingprompt #vitality #snowman #crafts #libraryprograms #paint #stencils #craftingtogether
