Any craziness happening with you today? Has it been just ten days since the election? Let's lie low until the full moon craziness dies down. Give yourself some extra tending in the meantime. Writing prompt: Who loves you and why? Writing prompt: Who do you take care of? Who takes care of you? Today I am grateful for my library programs. Today I can give from my heart: hope. #writingprompt #wordprompt #kittypicture #refrigerator #fullmoon #NOV2024

Sometimes I feel like I have too much empathy. In the 'empath' meaning of the word. Feeling too much. Too much pain of course, not too much happiness. Each time we feel pain, there is an "exquisite opportunity" (I forget where I heard that) but there is this exquisite opportunity for growth. Get out your toolbox, take out your favorite tools, throw in a few new ones when they present themselves, and use them when needed. It has been feeling very glum lately. Writing prompt: Are your tools for self care doing enough for you? Do you need to do more? Writing prompt: Are you keeping a close eye on loved ones who might need extra care from you at this time? Today I am grateful for finding some good self care resources after diligence and time. (Exhausting) Today I can give from my heart - I think I closed off my heart a bit today. I was looking more inward than outward. Tomorrow should be better. #writingprompt #selfcare #empathy #today #tomorrow #inward #helpers #BarredOwl
Writing prompt: Write about an experience of simplifying Writing prompt: Write using simple and paired down words. Today I am grateful for the fairy mushrooms growing in the park. A nice bit of autumn. Today I can give from my heart the gift of the awareness of my surroundings. #simplicity #mushrooms #fairies #awareness
Meliorism: the doctrine or belief that the world tends to become better or may be made better by human effort. From an 1877 letter: "'I don't know that I ever heard anybody use the word 'meliorist' except myself'" - George Eliot (British novelist Mary Ann Evans) Writing prompt: Do you believe in meliorism? Writing prompt: Do you know any meliorists? Are you one? Today I am grateful for learning about angels and guidance. Today I can give from my heart: suspending judgement Today's Sunday cinema film is 'Sullivan's Travels' from 1941, written and directed by Preston Sturges. Starring Joel McCrea and Veronica, plus the usual Sturges supporting cast. Veronica Lake was heavily pregnant while filming, which costume designer Edith Head worked very hard to try and conceal. The opening of the movie begins with this dedication: 'To the memory of those who made us laugh: the motley mountebanks, the clowns, the buffoons, in all times and in all nations, whose efforts have lightened our burden a little, this picture is affectionately dedicated.' #writingprompt #wordprompt #pictureprompt #meliorism #GeorgeEliot #MaryAnnEvans #SullivansTravels #JoelMcCrea #VeronicaLake #PrestonSturges #1941 #OhBrotherWhereArtThou #EdithHead #Travel #Hobo #Bum #Amnesia
We want to be recognized for things we do and maybe if we think of it as an energy nourishment it makes more sense. We are exchanging energy in our conversations, our interactions, our daily activities. Also, it's a good reminder of the saying "where your attention goes, your energy flows." What does that mean to you? Before the election I started watching a lot political videos on YouTube. (Maybe I wanted to distract myself. What was I trying to not think about? Now I see that I was putting too much energy towards things I do not want.) What do I want? Writing prompt: What world are you creating? What do you seek in the way of validation? Writing prompt: Do you strive for recognition? What satisfies that for you, or is it an ongoing quest? Today I am grateful for getting my garage door open again. I painted it and I hadn't realized that I had done such a thorough job that I had painted it shut. My son suggested that I take a putty knife and gently press along the seams of paint. It took me about 5 minutes and the garage door was able to open! A great example of a solution happening with ease and simplicity. Lately I've been noticing that this has been happening more often. Ease and simplicity! Today I can give from my heart: I can pass along Angel Blessings #writingprompt #wordprompt #merit #garagedoor #paint #scraper #easeandsimplicity ##paint #angels #blessings #information #patterns
How you see your purpose probably changes often, or do you think maybe it should? What drives you besides taking care of today's necessaries? Breaking things down into moment by moment observations can be revealing in what you need to focus on today. Turn your awareness to what needs to be taken care of, find your guidance for help with the rest. Direct your energy from your north star, look to the skies for the powerful star energy. It has a lot to guide you with. Writing prompt: What's your purpose today? Writing prompt: What's your purpose for the next month? Today I can give from my heart finding the treasure of this day. Today I am grateful for the wonderful YouTube channels that I love for helping me be aware of my own wisdom. #writingprompt #wordprompt #purpose #bigpurpose #smallpurpose #dailypurpose #lifepurpose #YouTube #TarotReaders #astrology #psychic #Timeline #power
In 2016 one of our dear friends passed away unexpectedly the day before the election, on Nov 7, 2016. We were filled with grief and shock. This mingled with my grief and shock and I don't know which I cried more about - trump being elected or our friend's death. How is today different than in 2016? I suppose my strategies have changed and they offer me support and strength. Even though again, things seem very grim, I can't help but think that we are evolving no matter what, and that the way that technology is evolving, more is being revealed and will continue to help us be more honest in the days, weeks, months and years to come. Here's our spirituality, come to offer support as well. On yesterday's theme of the news making me sick, I will continue that theme and make sure to take care of myself and my loved ones. Writing prompt: Do you have your support systems set in place to take care of yourself and your loved ones? Writing prompt: Can you make a plan for the weeks and months that follow this moment in time? Today I am grateful for new chances and new opportunities. Today I can give from my heart: help to others if they ask me for help. #writingprompt #wordprompt #hope #friendship #russiandisinformation #truthwillout #health #hopeful
We forget how it feels to be strong and healthy until our health deteriorates and we go through a period where we are not. There I was, riding along, coasting along, in pretty good health (I say pretty good because lately I haven't been exercising, even though I feel great after exercising) I've been paying attention to the election, paying attention too closely to the point that I feel it's affecting my health. Interesting how a habit that began with a benign intent, has become a malignant force in my life. Like one piece of pie is delicious, but delicious is best in moderation. I'm withdrawing from observing the media horserace and refocusing on my health and my well being. Today, as I rest and recuperate, eat nourishing food and do my beloved meditations, and I will rewatch 'The Forsyte Saga.' Tomorrow I will take a peek at how things are progressing. I sent in my mail-in ballot two weeks ago. Writing prompt: Take stock of your habits and routines today. Writing prompt: What needs to change? What first step do you need to take for that to happen? Today I am grateful for the blessing that I had wonderful grandparents who blessed my life in many ways. Today I can give from my heart the gift of attempting to be a blessing in someone else's life. The word Charisma comes from the ancient Greek word "favor freely given" and "gift of grace." That's beautiful. Any charisma I have, I credit it to the many hours of meditation I've done, especially the Divine Will meditations.. I'm not sure I've ever been told that I have charisma. If I had 'charisma' how would I use it? Maybe to charm people to do things for me? Maybe to persuade people to do good things, like helping animals or helping to save the rainforest? That would be a good use of charisma. In this context, what are some other ways or definitions of charisma? Tony Robbins just popped into my head. He might be considered to have charisma. I just came up with another use: if you were dating, I think you'd want charisma so that you would be noticed by someone. It'd be fun and interesting to explore the ancient Greek word sources and see how they first used the word. Wikipedia also has some great explorations of 'charisma.' en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charisma#:~:text=The%20English%20word%20charisma%20derives,)%2C%20John%20Potts%20said%20that: Writing prompt: Where does your charisma come from? Do you think it's something you can cultivate and expand? Writing prompt: Thinking of the people you admire, do they have charisma? What's the source, in your opinion? I liked pairing the power word of wisdom with the film 'The Great McGinty.' The main character, McGinty is a streetwise fellow who can be bought and is used to getting things the way he always has. As the movie evolves, his character becomes someone quite different. Writing prompt: what have you learned this week that has made an impact on you? Writing prompt: If you could change one thing today, in the world, what would that be? Today I am grateful for the wisdom to know when to turn off outside chatter Today I can give from my heart: goodwill and a smile This week's fun film is 'The Great McGinty' from 1940. Written and directed by Preston Sturges. A famous movie quote from the film: The Politician: "If it weren't for graft, you'd get a very low type of people in politics." which sets the stage for fun. The characters, dialog and story are wonderful, and classic Preston Sturges fare. Featuring a cast that Sturges would use for many of his movies that followed, like William Demarest and Esther Howard. #writingprompt #wordprompt #Wisdom #wise #politicalsatire #PrestonSturges #1940 #politics #plaid
