Dad is on my mind, and I don't think it has fully hit yet that he's gone. Only in the physical, but sometimes that is the part that means so much. I felt like it was a relief for him, he did not want to be here any more, it was a struggle to get him to eat anything, to stay up and in his chair, he constantly fought me, the nurses, the aides, etc. I will write about the angels that hospice is. Truly angelic helpers.
But for now, time to ponder the end of 2025.. Writing prompt: Your Dad. A sensory description, perhaps? Writing prompt: Who are you, through your ancestry, your lineage, who are you? One aspect? My Pops passed away. Expected, but unexpected, on Dec 18. (My stepmother passed away on Aug 19, they had been married for 54 years.) Winter officially arrived. I got to visit with my grandson. He's wonderful! (With 25% of me, who wouldn't be, haha!) I've begun participating in my writing groups again, I've missed them! The careful process of restoring is in place. When my stepmother passed away in August, one of her grandchildren wrote a beautiful essay entitled 'Oma's 10 Rule For living" That captured the spirit of Arianne perfectly. I thought I would do something similar here, and think about my ten rules for living. Rule number 1 would definitely be get outside in nature. No matter what you do, do your best to spend some time in nature, especially if you need to ground, heal, reconnect, de-stress, think about things, have an important task coming up, a small amount of time (or a large amount of time) spend in nature will help everything. Today I am very grateful for the unseen neighbor who shoveled the bottom third of my driveway for me.
