Today's Sunday cinema film is 'Sullivan's Travels' from 1941, written and directed by Preston Sturges.
Starring Joel McCrea and Veronica, plus the usual Sturges supporting cast. Veronica Lake was heavily pregnant while filming, which costume designer Edith Head worked very hard to try and conceal.
The opening of the movie begins with this dedication:
'To the memory of those who made us laugh: the motley mountebanks, the clowns, the buffoons, in all times and in all nations, whose efforts have lightened our burden a little, this picture is affectionately dedicated.'
