Sharing some insights from my whirlwind cross country trip of last weekend. We had booked a Toyota Rav 4 three weeks in advance, only to be told the day we needed to pick the car up that the closest thing to a Rav 4 that Avis had on hand was a Canyonero. https://simpsons.fandom.com/wiki/Canyonero A gas guzzler and way too big, I began my journey feeling quite disgruntled. But, lo and behold, after 19 hours and nearly 1000 miles, I had no back pain. Would I have had the same experience in a Rav 4? I suspect I would've had a much more painful journey. I would rent that monstrous boat again simply for that reason. More insights to follow, but for now, how about you? I have a friend who watches Fox "News" - I can tell by the things she says. I have not checked in with her lately and I have never openly addressed her political view but I have always suspected how she felt. Another lifetime ago when I had twitter, she was on there too. I noticed she started following people who I consider - what's the word I want to use to describe them? - 'repugnant' comes to mind. I consider her a dear friend because she and I always have had good times together. I always hope she will - what's the phrase I want to use? change her mind, change her heart, change her beliefs. As long as she keeps listening to repugnant "news" "sources" I don't think she will. And that is a very very sad thing. I know there are millions of us in the US who have loved ones who are in the same cult and it is very very sad for all of us. Writing prompt: What secret beliefs you held? Keeping in balance when you have a lot going on can be tricky. First, your physical self: make sure you drink plenty of water, eat nutritious food, and if you can, exercise. I really love QiGong, and I enjoy Lee Holden QiGong videos. A six minute morning routine from YouTube is below. Make lists to help keep things on track. Check off when items are completed. The Pomodoro method can assist with tasks and there are some fun free timers available online. The Pomodoro method is that you do a task for 15 or 20 or 25 minutes, then you take a five minute break. I've become a fan of the PBS series in 'The Father Brown Mysteries' of late. I've always loved the Miss Marple and Poirot episodes and recently I've been enjoying Father Brown. Also savoring 'Howards End' - both the 2007 version and the 1993 version have wonderful characters and dialog and I never tire of them. The energy of virtual comfort food? This was a project long in the making but well worth the effort. The moon journals and the Moon Gazing journals all got new interiors that I am proud of. When I took an art class back in 2016 about how to create a journal, the tools were very different. We can do so much more today, but the main thing is to find the tools that help you to be who you are in this lifetime. Writing prompt: Who are you? My first sighting of a Screech Owl in the wild, thanks to the generosity of a birder at the park where I usually spend time.. If I had not gone to the park that day. If I had not seen the birder and got out of my car to speak to him. If I had not answered his questions about owls... He told me where he'd seen this beauty. Birders are often very secretive about their sightings. To protect the birds, mostly from too many prying eyes. Writing prompt: Your serendipitous moment of the week? The Perelandra website underwent a complete restructuring last year. I am still discovering hidden and not so hidden treasures on the new website. This harkens back to the previous blog post: simple solutions. I have been delighted to find more solutions "hidden in plain sight" recently, and I now wonder what might happen if I took a problem I'm facing, and looked at possible solutions this way.
