How long has it been since you enjoyed a good hearty laugh? So much around us is very serious, and it's not always easy to conjure up a hearty laugh, but I know you will feel better if you find something that will make you laugh. Sometimes for me that's remembering something funny that one of my kids said, or that was said to me, even years ago.. Or an old favorite comforting movie, I recently watched 'The Gods Must Be Crazy' and some scenes made me laugh out loud.. I highly recommend this movie. Writing prompt: Write something that could make you laugh Writing prompt: Bring a moment of joy (or remembered joy) into your life Today I am grateful for the people who have brought me such moments of joy Highlights from the past week: walks with my dog at the park including walking inside the butterfly garden (which we had not done before) new pictures of my grandson, and successful baking of my favorite pretzel/bagel recipe. RAIN. Grateful for rain!. It's been a while. For support, I highly recommend the MAP program (which stands for Medical Assistant Program) created by Machaelle Small Wright (Perelandra) and a wonderful https://perelandra-ltd.com/blog/learning-library/map-stress-sessions.html https://perelandra-ltd.com/blog/author/question-line-duo #writingprompt #wordprompt #highlightsoftheweek #rain #laughter #MAP #Perelandra #MAPStressSession #TheGodsMustBeCrazy #butterflygarden

With the closing of the Lion's Gate Portal, we come to Obon. Honoring the ancestors and welcoming them back. Here are two beautiful pieces of Japanese art created in honor of Obon, artwork that was created many decades ago. Obon is very similar to the core idea of Halloween and that must be why I love Obon so much, because I am a huge fan of Halloween, and honoring our ancestors, and leaving out lanterns and special gifts for them. Halloween has it's Jack-O-Lanterns and Obon has it's straw horses and lanterns. Come back, dear ancestors, come back! We honor you! Writing prompt: Ways you can honor your ancestors Writing prompt: Create a new tradition for your ancestors Today I am grateful for the feeling of magic that is upon us. Today I can give from my heart: heartfelt thanks. #Writingprompt #wordprompt #Obon #Japan #August #Halloween #DanceForObon #StrawHorse #ObonLantern #Magic #wonder #ancestors #WelcomeBack #homecoming #SukiyakiSong #Time
The Lion's Gate Portal is happening, and will peak on Aug 8. The alignment of the sun in Leo and Sirius and Earth. An auspicious time for meditation and manifestation.. From our dear friends at Orin DaBen: https://www.orindaben.com/pages/newsletters/starenergies/#gsc.tab=0 Sirius is known as the "Dog Star," and as the star of liberation, love, freedom, and initiation. Sirius strongly influences events on the earth plane. It is the magnetic energy that comes from Sirius that changes the earth's magnetism and creates pole shifts. You can work with the Sirius energy to stay clear and balanced, to have an open heart, to free yourself from negative energies, and to be magnetic to all you need to fulfill your purpose. A lovely Orin 25 minute meditation free to listen to and to download: https://assets.orindaben.com/sounds/public_audio/Orin_Aligning_With_Star_Energy.mp3 Writing prompt: How will you mark this auspicious time? Writing prompt: Do you feel the effects of the star energies? Today I am grateful for a wonderful prairie restoration walk Today I can give from my heart: sharing and appreciating Google Ai says: To find Sirius, the Dog Star, locate the constellation Orion the Hunter first. Then, follow the three stars of Orion's belt downwards towards the eastern horizon. Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, will be the most prominent star in that direction. It's located in the constellation Canis Major, the Greater Dog, and is easily recognizable by its intense blue-white brilliance. #writingprompt #wordprompt #BackEyedSusan #Rudbeckia #PrairieRestoration #Sirius #DogStar #LionsGate #Awakening #Wildflowers
Lughnasadh is pronounced LooNaSa, and it gives me goosebumps as I say that it marks the halfway point between the summer solstice and the autumn equinox! Yay! From ancient Gaelic times, Lughnasadh honors the God Lugh. The newer Lammas celebrates the harvest of the grain. A good day to bake some bread if it's not too hot where you are. So, let's lean into the heat for a few days more, if we can stand it. Writing prompt: How are you and/or your characters dealing with extreme weather? Writing prompt: Are you honoring Lughnasadh, and/or Lammas? If yes, what will you do? Below: Marilyn Monroe thinking up ways to keep cool as she deals with the heat in 'The Seven Year Itch' (the movie is free on Prime at the moment) Easy Pretzel recipe: https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/easy-homemade-soft-pretzels/sallysbakingaddiction.com/easy-homemade-soft-pretzels/ and when I say easy I mean it! In the not too distant past, I saw a decal on a car that said 'trying not to raise liberals' while I was completing a food delivery. The house was a normal suburban house, but the SUV in the driveway had this decal on its back window. As I dropped off the food, I noticed a yard sign that said the yard had been treated with some herbicide or other. Then I noticed one of those poisonous rodent boxes in their front yard - the kind that you see in entrances of stores and behind restaurants. Where mice, rats, other small unsuspecting small animals go inside, they eat poison and die pretty awful deaths. (Humans have endless cruelty and stupidity) I thought they must have mice, but now, in thinking about it, maybe it was to kill chipmunks, which are more common than mice in people's yards. So, I am putting these things together, and assuming that these loudly proclaiming "non liberals" are all for poisoning their environment and causing terrible pain and suffering for the small animals we share the planet with. Have I got it right? Seems about right. Writing prompt: How are you blessing the planet with your presence? Writing prompt: What kind of world do you want to live in? Today I am grateful for: not living next door to these people Today I can give from my heart: sharing resources that help the planet On a lighter note: this morning I saw a man riding a large unicycle down the road as we drove to the park for our morning walk. #writingprompt #wordprompt #liberals #planet #helpingothers #liberalvalues #unicycle
From across the park, I noticed a man walking around the children's playground with a long handled instrument in his hands. I was immediately concerned, jumping to the conclusion that the park district was once again applying chemicals or herbicides to the park, this time to the children's area! I walked closer to ask if he was going to post signs so people would be warned about the herbicides. I got closer and then realized he was using a metal detector! I asked if he had found anything and he told me he had found some coins. He had some interesting tales to tell about things he'd found that were precious to their owners: a mid 19th century "cigar ring" that was a family heirloom. The dog tags belonging to a family whose beloved pet had passed away a year or two earlier. Also, there have been jewelry finds that no one seems interested in. Writing prompt: write about something lost and then found Writing prompt: imagine the thrill of finding buried treasure. What do you find? Today I am grateful for my Friday crossword puzzle time with my son! Today I can give from my heart prayers and asking for angel help for those who are suffering. Here's a video from the YouTube channel of the metal detecting man I met in the park. @TrashNTreasureDetecting https://www.youtube.com/@TrashNTreasureDetecting and His YouTube channel #writingprompt #wordprompt #MetalDetecting #TrashnTreasureDetecting #FindTreasure
Perelandra to the rescue and finding the answers you need. Let's look at a great post in our favorite nature inspired website: https://perelandra-ltd.com/ Writing prompt: Are you asking the right questions? Writing prompt: Is timing involved when waiting for answers? https://perelandra-ltd.com/blog/environment-and-garden/what-do-i-do-about-insert-latest-pest.html Today I am grateful for my writing camp workshop, given by Dean Wesley Smith and Kristine Kathryn Rusch. How did I find these lovely people? Serendipity led me to them - I've been following Kris Rusch's patreon for some time. I believe I signed up through an author program so long ago that I don't even remember when. I see she's been mentioned in Joanna Penn's work, and there's a great interview on YouTube. That led me to Kris Rusch's husband, Dean Wesley Smith. They have many many resources for writers. Their blogs are chock full of information too. Today I can give from my heart: exercising and honoring my creativity. #writingprompt #wordprompt #writers #Perelandra #writingresources #askingquestions
The Farmer's Almanac gives us some great resources about this time of year in the northern hemisphere. The 'Dog Days' of summer are traditionally from July 3 through August 11, so we are heading toward the middle of the 'Dog Days.' And I find myself looking for new inspiration, and ways to feel inspired and energized. I'm beginning a wonderful writing boot camp but I still feel lazy when it comes to accomplishing the daily things that need my attention. https://www.almanac.com/content/what-are-dog-days-summer https://www.almanac.com/content/stargazing-finding-stars-and-constellations writing prompt: Enjoy some stargazing for inspiration. Write about your experience writing prompt: How is your garden growing? I've got raspberries galore! It is that time.. Some of the first notebooks I created back in 2016 were 'for the bride' and everything I did back then began with 'Your Mini Notebook!' Here we are nearly a decade later and I am slowly going through the old journals and updating them. I am very pleased with the new covers and interiors. Many more tools and resources are available today. And I'm working on new journals, new gift box projects and I am a new grandmother now! Today I am grateful for: weather that is not too hot. (Always a good thing) Today I can give from my heart: being there to lend a hand Writing prompt: Has your writing taken you in a different direction than you planned?
