Happy 108th Birthday Grandma Jean

The one who gave me my most happy childhood memories.
She taught me the names of wildflowers and birds and to love walking in the woods.
She lived to be 99 and I miss her every day.

My grandmother, who loved the birds and flowers so dearly, would love the way Perelandra inspires us to start in our own backyards when it comes to saving our small piece of the planet.
I think about her garden and vow to one day plant all the flowers she used to proudly point out to me in her backyard garden: the Phlox, and Clematis and Morning Glories vining their way up the strings toward the kitchen window, strings that were created from the strings that tied the evening newspaper that my grandfather read as he sat on the front porch at night. The Shasta Daisies, Rudbeckia, Globe Thistles, the Iris, yes, the beautiful Irises, the Pussy Willow, and Lilac bush, Honeysuckle, the Agrostemma, blackberries and raspberries in the back by the garage and the small swing. Wild things too: a Jack In The Pulpit under the old Walnut tree.. If I'm forgetting anything, Gram, please remind me, I want to create a garden like the one you used to have. xoxo
